The MRW National Recycling  Awards took place at London Hilton, Park Lane on the 27th June. Over 600 of the recycling sector’s prominent figures came to celebrate the waste industry’s achievements and there were 21 categories to compete across. Egbert Taylor beat 10 other companies that had been shortlisted for the coveted category.

Smarter Systems (Efficiency) Award was presented to Egbert Taylor following its partnership with the UK’s largest textile recycling business, Nathan’s Wastesavers. Egbert Taylor integrated netBin’s innovative locking system nLok and remote monitoring solution nPod into their textile banks. This responded to problems with textile materials theft, which was costing Nathan’s Wastesavers £3,000 per week.

nLok provides a very secure technological barrier to thieves, it wirelessly communicates with authorised collectors to enable banks to be opened and all access logged and reported automatically

netBin’s sensor technology nPod has also enabled collection teams to remotely establish how full each unit is. If full, Nathan’s Wastesavers will send someone out to empty it to ensure that users can continue correctly depositing the waste in the bank itself. If not full, then they no longer send out trucks on trips to empty the banks, saving time, resource and the carbon emissions associated with unnecessary empties

On collecting the award, which was presented to Egbert Taylor by English comedian and actress Kerry Godliman, Kevin Docherty, Sales Manager, commented:

“The National Recycling Awards is a beacon of excellence for our industry and we’re delighted to not only have been recognised on a national level for our achievements, but also to have beaten some of the nation’s most well-known names to the title. We’re incredibly proud of our work with Nathan’s Wastesavers and we now look forward to continue building on our success and developing our partnership.”

Other firms shortlisted for the prize included Minster Surfacing, Reconomy, Valpak and Thompson Recycling & Landfill.
